Elder Care – Promoting and Protecting the Rights of the Elderly
Neumann University, Dec. 2, 2016
Older Americans are among the most enthusiastic beneficiaries of the modern digital revolution. Computers and smartphones enable the elderly, regardless of mobility, to keep in touch with far-flung relatives, order life-sustaining goods from online merchants and stay abreast of the latest news.
But the same space-conquering technology that empowers so many older Americans also can increase their vulnerability to global criminals who attempt to steal money, passwords and identities from the unprepared.
The Center for Leadership is offering a three-hour seminar to instruct elder care providers, attorneys and family members how to warn older Americans about and protect them from computer, direct mail and telephone scams. The seminar will feature leaders from law enforcement, the legal profession and social service organizations who will discuss strategies laypeople and experts can use to protect the elderly from financial predators.
